German police are urgently looking an unknown suspect who fled the town of Solingen after three individuals had been killed and eight severely injured in a knife assault Friday night.
The BBC reports that the attacker struck during celebrations to mark the 650th anniversary of the town’s basis in western Germany. The motive for the assault will not be but clear.
Town’s mayor Tim Kurzbach has written on social media this morning, expressing his shock over the incident, writing: “We mourn the victims and stand by their households.
“The perpetrator have to be caught rapidly and punished to the total extent of the legislation.”
He added that those that attended the occasion had been in a state of “shock, horror and nice grief.”
The assault occurred on the Fronhof – a market sq. in Solingen – the place reside bands had been enjoying.
One DJ, named Subject, wrote on Instagram that he was acting at a close-by stage when the assault happened.
He wrote that safety personnel requested him to maintain enjoying to keep away from inflicting wider panic:
