Slayer launched their last report Repentless in 2015, and after a very long time teasing it, Slayer guitarist Kerry King launched his debut solo album From Hell I Rise in 2024. This irritated a contingent of King followers for sounding like a continuation of Slayer, and King is not precisely certain why.
In an interview with Rádio Kiss FM 92.5, King mentioned he wasn’t attempting to outdo Slayer or something, however merely continued on writing music. Which is the place I personally get a bit confused concerning the King solo act hate – dude wrote the final Slayer report. What else did you assume he was gonna do?
“I did not exit of my approach to outdo Slayer. To me, it was actually the subsequent 12 or 13 songs, those we completed, those we felt good about. I do assume that report’s obtained tooth. It is fierce; it simply rips out of the audio system. I by no means got down to do something higher than Slayer. I simply needed my subsequent factor to be good.”
King continued: “The one factor I’ve to say to [the people who expected something different], and it makes good sense — I would like AC/DC to be AC/DC. I would like Judas Priest to be Judas Priest. Individuals need Kerry King to be Kerry King, I feel. To me, it is individuals which can be simply haters on the Web. They’ve an opinion about every thing, and nobody provides a shit about their opinion.”
