It began when Mike Portnoy reunited together with his former Dream Theater bandmates John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess for Liquid Pressure Experiment 3 in 2021, the primary album from instrumental prog unit Liquid Pressure Experiment since 1999. That snowballed into Portnoy finally rejoining Dream Theater in 2023, who has since launched Parasomnia and begun an intensive 40th anniversary world tour.
So was there a selected second the place Portnoy knew it was the correct time to get again with Dream Theater? Based on Portnoy himself in an interview with The Steel Voice, probably not.
“There wasn’t a selected second, it was a fruits of numerous smaller moments. I had reconnected with all the blokes on a private degree so we had been all in excellent locations personally.
