Paddington in Peru director Dougal Wilson says the upcoming movie is influenced by two Werner Herzog motion pictures.
Paddington in Peru will probably be launched in United States theaters this coming January. A sequel to 2014’s Paddington and 2017’s Paddington 2, the movie is directed by Wilson and sees Bin Whishaw reprise his function because the voice of Paddington Brown.
Talking with Empire Magazine, Wilson revealed that he was primarily influenced by two Herzog motion pictures — 1972’s Aguirre, the Wrath of God and 1982’s Fitzcarraldo — when engaged on Paddington in Peru.
“Peru has this unimaginable number of landscapes, loopy geology, particularly the Andes and the mysterious Incan aspect,” he stated. “If you happen to’ve seen [Werner Herzog’s] Aguirre, The Wrath Of God, we go up into related landscapes. And the persons are extremely pleasant.”
Wilson added, “Clearly there are mopeds and cell phones and all that, however they do nonetheless appear to put on traditional-looking garments within the rural Andes. So I attempted to point out some Peruvian tradition; a Peruvian legend underlies our complete story.”
