Patriarkh – the band previously often called Batushka fronted by Bartłomiej “Варфоломей” Krysiuk – will launch their first album underneath the brand new title ПРОРОК ИЛИЯ (PROROK ILJA) on January 3. Patriarkh is now streaming the second single “ВЕРШАЛИН IV” (“WIERSZALIN IV”) that includes some extra, liturgical vocals from Eliza Sacharczuk. It is also fairly fascinating that Patriarkh‘s touch upon the track appears to disclose that the band is certainly spiritual, breaking from their ordinary “is it blasphemous? Is it worship music?” thriller.
“That is probably the most Oriental-sounding track on our new album,” wrote Patriarkh. “The gorgeous monody that runs all through the complete piece is deeply influenced by Greek and Romanian traditions, that are integral to Orthodoxy. In our new music, we goal to showcase totally different facets of Orthodoxy. Simply because the Prophet Ilja journeyed to Kronsztadt, we traveled far for musical inspiration to create a psalm in honor of the New Jerusalem that our prophet was constructing.
“This track options our long-time singing trainer, Eliza Sacharczuk. We have now been collaborating together with her since 2016, repeatedly bettering our singing abilities by classes and consultations. Our selection was intentional; Eliza has a very distinctive voice. Hear and see for your self!”
