Slower – the sludgy Slayer cowl band (sort of) now that includes Bob Balch (Fu Manchu) on guitar, Amy Tung Barrysmith (Year Of The Cobra) on bass and vocals and Esben Willems (Monolord) – is again with a brand new album that has some originals!
Slower will launch Rage And Spoil on November 1, and is now streaming their first authentic tune “Hellfire”. The album includes two Slayer covers (“Chemical Warfare” and “Haunting The Chapel”) and 4 authentic creations, all darkish, crushing and haunting doom topped by Amy Tung-Barrysmith‘s alluring vocals.
“Once we began this album, the unique intention was to cowl Slayer‘s EP Haunting The Chapel in its entirety,” stated Balch. “We began with ‘Chemical Warfare’ then went on to ‘Haunting The Chapel’, however as soon as we acquired to ‘Captor Of Sin’ we realized that tune did not need to be slowed down in any respect.
“So we began writing our personal songs and I am glad we did. The result’s Rage And Spoil. Two sides with Slayer songs within the center, bookended by Slower originals. We’re tremendous happy with this report and may’t wait so that you can hear it!.”
Amy Tung Barrysmith provides: “Once we began writing originals, I wished to attempt to maintain to the identical themes that Slayer wrote about. There are a number of songs about warfare in Slayer’s songs and after I heard the ‘Hellfire’ riff, the primary picture that got here to thoughts was simply this vibrant pink fireplace raining down from the heavens. With the entire upheaval on the planet at present, it appeared like a becoming matter.
“What makes this tune barely distinctive, although, is that I got here up with the title, ‘Hellfire’, first from that preliminary picture I had in my head. Writing the lyrics after that was simple.”
Pre-orders are available for Rage And Ruin here (and here in Europe).
